Thomas J. Mazzuckelli, Ph.D, D.M.D, has been an Atlanta resident for over twenty years. Prior to moving to Atlanta, Dr. Mazzuckelli lived in St. Louis where he was affiliated with Monsanto Company. He is a native of Chicago, Illinois.
After attending Bloom Township High School, Dr. Mazzuckelli graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in Chemistry and German from Augustana College in Rock Island Illinois. He continued his education at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina studying in the laboratories of Dr. Steven Baldwin, and he received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry. His research focused on the synthesis of natural products utilizing the photoannelation of chiral furanones with alkenes to produce optically active products. After 7 years of experience with the Monsanto Company and Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Mazzuckelli entered the School of Dentistry at the Georgia Health Sciences University, formerly called the Medical College of Georgia. He graduated in 1995, finishing second among 47 classmates and was recognized for outstanding achievement in Human Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, and Prosthodontics. Dr. Mazzuckelli has maintained his affiliation with the Georgia Health Sciences University, serving as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Oral Rehabilitation.
He currently resides in Johns Creek with his wife Katherine. His twin daughter and son, Anna attends (Furman University) and Alec attends (Duke University).
